Protecting the typical product

Many Ortoromi products can embellish the IGP title (Indicazione Geografica Protetta which means “protected geographical indication”) which is a qualification agreed by the European Union which values and designates an agricultural product with peculiar characteristics which depend strictly on the area from which they originate and are rigorously respectful to precise disciplinaries.

Ortoromi adheres to the consortium of the Radicchio Rosso of Treviso and of the Variegato of Castelfranco Veneto.

Here are two products from our lands which have obtained European recognition of protected geographical areas and the protection of the guarantee of high quality (taste, colour and scent) of these typically winter vegetables.

Their goodness is guaranteed by simple and natural ingredients: seed selection, sowing and techniques of picking which force slow working. The cultivation of these “winter flowers” is reserved to limited geographical zones within the province of Treviso, Padua, and Venice.
